FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about Framis on macOS.

What macOS version do I need?

Framis requires macOS 15.6 or later.

Does it support Apple Silicon and Intel Macs?

Yes. Framis runs natively on both.

Is Framis free?

Yes. Framis is free to download and use.

How is it different from other window managers?

The main difference is the interaction model. Framis is zone-first: you choose the destination before the window. See Zone-First Workflow for the full comparison.

How does Framis compare to Raycast’s Window Management?

Raycast presets work at the application level — “Safari on the left, VS Code on the right”. Framis works at the window level, so you can target a specific window from an app that has several open. The two tools are complementary: Raycast for static morning setup, Framis for live mid-day rearrangement.

How does it compare to AeroSpace or yabai?

AeroSpace and yabai are tiling window managers that take over how windows behave continuously. Framis is the opposite — it is a dedicated Arrange Mode that you enter only when you want to organize, and exits as soon as you are done. No window behavior is changed outside the mode.

Why is Framis not on the Mac App Store?

Framis uses the macOS Accessibility API to move and resize other apps’ windows. That requires running outside the App Store sandbox, so distribution is through GitHub Releases and Notarized downloads instead.

Does Framis collect any data?

No. There is no analytics, telemetry, or account system. The app runs entirely on your Mac.
